Our dedicated school counselors recently attended the Magnolia State School Counselor Association conference right before fall break!
They returned with fresh insights, strategies, and tools to better support our students, families, and schools. We’re committed to fostering a positive environment for everyone, and this conference has equipped our counselors with even more knowledge to help guide our students on their paths to success.

Sweet Science Alert! Mrs. Butts and Mrs. Bolger’s 6th grade Science classes at LUES wrapped up their unit on cell theory by getting creative with animal cell cookies!
Students worked in groups to design their own animal cells using sugar cookies and various toppings. They had to think critically about which toppings best represented the organelles they’d been learning about. From frosting to candy, the creativity was off the charts!
What a fun and tasty way to solidify their understanding of cell structures!
Attention LCSD Students and Families: The University of Mississippi School of Education and Teachers of Tomorrow (TOT) are hosting their annual Fall Festival for PK-6 students on October 18th from 5-8 pm at Guyton Hall on the University of Mississippi Oxford campus. This will be a great opportunity for our students and their families to come together and enjoy some fun fall-themed activities.

Jovie Loprinzi is the Mississippi Girls 3K champion in medium school division with a time of 12:15.
Hazel Dawson is state runner-up with a time of 12:23.
The girls team placed 5th in a pool of 17 schools.
Colt Robinson medaled in 10th for the boys.

Lafayette County School will observe a week-long fall break from October 7-11.
This Friday, October 4th, is a teacher professional development day and students will not have school.
Thanks to LUES PTO and SnoBiz for helping us celebrate our amazing students last week who earned perfect scores on their State MAAP tests! 🎉 We are so proud of their hard work and dedication. On Friday, September 27th, the 2024 Homecoming Queen and King were crowned at Lafayette High School.
Princess Jones was selected as HC Queen and Even Bynum was selected as HC King.

On Saturday September 28, the Lafayette High School Marching Band competed at the Conquistador Classic in Olive Branch. The band, under the direction of drum major Sarah Hamm, won best music and visual performance and second place band and color guard in their division. They were selected second-place overall color guard and band.
