Great opportunity for the next generation of Commodores at the Upper Elementary.

This Friday, Lafayette and Oxford will come together this week for the annual Pink Out game. During the week leading up to the game, both teams ask the community to donate in support of their fight against cancer. This year, we honor John Cromeans, a proud dad to two Commodores. Click on the QR or go to https://account.venmo.com/u/Lafayette-softball-1 to donate.
A word from the Cromeans family:
This game is a powerful reminder that we are not walking this journey alone. Every moment on that field and every cheer from the stands fuels John’s fight against cancer and gives us strength we can feel.
We are incredibly grateful for our village. The prayers, the messages, the hugs, the quiet check-ins… You have surrounded us in ways we will never be able to fully express. Without a doubt, your love and faith have lifted us, strengthened us, and played a role in the progress we’ve seen.
To our Lafayette community… we have felt every bit of your love. You’ve shown up, stood in the gap, and carried us when we needed it most. We will never stop being thankful, and we will never stop fighting. 💛❤️🥎 Go Dores! ⚓️

Mrs. Burns’ and Mrs. Putman’s 3rd Grade Math classes came together to learn about elapsed time through a collaborative lesson. Students practiced calculating elapsed time by working through activities involving mountains, hills, and rocks as part of the learning process. The lesson kept students actively engaged, and they enjoyed working together and collaborating with their peers while building their understanding of elapsed time.

Students across campus have enjoyed dress-up days, mystery readers, and special guest readers who helped make the love of reading even more exciting.
Students in Mrs. Quarles’ and Mrs. Hinshaw’s 4th grade classes were excited to welcome special guest readers Mrs. Whitney Pullen and Mrs. Laura Carr, who are also moms of students in the class. Thank you for taking time out of your day to read with our students and support our school!
Students in Mrs. Chrestman’s 5th grade class also enjoyed welcoming Captain Dyer as a guest reader this week as part of the celebration.
We appreciate the families and community members who helped make Read Across America Week so special for our students!

Today, we recognize Maintenance Worker Appreciation Day and the individuals who work behind the scenes each day to keep our schools running smoothly. Thank you to Ben Shackelford, Andy Paul, Rusty Pinion, and Billy Pegues (not pictured) for the hard work and care you put into supporting our students, staff, and facilities. We appreciate all that you do for our district!

The fun is still going strong at LES as we celebrate Read Across America Week! Students have been enjoying dress-up days, special guest readers, and plenty of time to celebrate the love of reading.
