Kaidee Davis was the winner of Mr. Kyzar’s annual 3rd grade March Madness reading bracket! Students competed by answering questions from state practice tests as they prepare for upcoming assessments.
Kaidee stood out not only for her accuracy but also for clearly explaining her thinking, eliminating incorrect answer choices, and referring back to the text.
She earned a well-deserved reward with lunch from Chick-fil-A!
We’re proud of all of these 3rd graders for their hard work and focus as they get ready for testing

Great opportunity for the next generation of Commodores at the Upper Elementary.

This Friday, Lafayette and Oxford will come together this week for the annual Pink Out game. During the week leading up to the game, both teams ask the community to donate in support of their fight against cancer. This year, we honor John Cromeans, a proud dad to two Commodores. Click on the QR or go to https://account.venmo.com/u/Lafayette-softball-1 to donate.
A word from the Cromeans family:
This game is a powerful reminder that we are not walking this journey alone. Every moment on that field and every cheer from the stands fuels John’s fight against cancer and gives us strength we can feel.
We are incredibly grateful for our village. The prayers, the messages, the hugs, the quiet check-ins… You have surrounded us in ways we will never be able to fully express. Without a doubt, your love and faith have lifted us, strengthened us, and played a role in the progress we’ve seen.
To our Lafayette community… we have felt every bit of your love. You’ve shown up, stood in the gap, and carried us when we needed it most. We will never stop being thankful, and we will never stop fighting. 💛❤️🥎 Go Dores! ⚓️

Mrs. Burns’ and Mrs. Putman’s 3rd Grade Math classes came together to learn about elapsed time through a collaborative lesson. Students practiced calculating elapsed time by working through activities involving mountains, hills, and rocks as part of the learning process. The lesson kept students actively engaged, and they enjoyed working together and collaborating with their peers while building their understanding of elapsed time.

MISSISSIPPI READS ONE BOOK
Mississippi Reads One Book kicked off this week! We are excited that all of our PK-3 students will receive a book to take home and read each night with their families.
Pre-K and K students are reading Mercy Watson to the Rescue.
First, Second, and Third graders are reading Charlotte’s Web.
We would love to see your children enjoying the books at home! Post pictures in the comments!
Happy Reading!

Report cards will be released today March, 19, 2026.

Even though Pi Day fell during Spring Break this year, we’re excited to share a look back at their fun and creative celebration of math!
