Lafayette Endowment Fund for Education
What is LEFE?
The Lafayette Endowment Fund for Education, Inc. (LEFE) is a nonprofit organization of individuals dedicated to better meeting the educational needs of the children in the Lafayette County School District. As a nonprofit organization, LEFE accepts tax-deductible contributions. Through its board of directors, LEFE seeks input from parents, teachers, and school administrators in determining the most effective application of funds raised.
Vehicle owners can sign up for a Lafayette School District tag at the county tax collector’s office when registering a new vehicle or renewing an existing car tag. The specialty tag is only $31 annually and $24 of that comes back to our schools! Proceeds go to the Lafayette Endowment Fund for Education (LEFE) to provide teacher grants to support academic projects and activities that will enhance the education of students in our district.
How does LEFE work?
The Lafayette Endowment Fund for Education solicits grant applications in the fall of each year from the faculty of Lafayette County Schools. In conjunction with school administrators, LEFE reviews grant applications to determine the projects that best enhance the educational process for all our children. The LEFE Board of Directors awards final grant approvals directly to the teacher. Grant projects generally range from $250 to $2,000.
Why should I join LEFE?
The goal of the LEFE is to nurture a better education for all children. LEFE grants fund classroom equipment and materials so our LCSD students and teachers have the tools they need for the best education for our students.
LEFE makes an ongoing commitment to enhance educational resources both today and tomorrow. LEFE uses ten percent of all donations received each year to fund the permanent endowment, thereby providing financial support for future needs.
Who can join LEFE?
Any individual or business that wants to support our LCSD students and teachers can join LEFE.
