LUES 6th Grade Walking Club
Our 6th graders kicked off the Walking Club this week during break! This is a great way to stay active, get moving throughout the school day, and enjoy time with friends.
All 6th grade students are welcome to join, and we hope to see our club continue to grow!

Mrs. Davis’s 5th grade scientists explored atomic structure by building models of different atoms! Students identified the correct number of protons, neutrons, and electrons for each atom while practicing counting, collaboration, and critical thinking.

SIXTH GRADE MATH IN ACTION
Sixth grade math students put their ratio skills to work through a hands-on hospital-themed project. Students calculated medication dosages, identified missing patient codes, and analyzed emergency response times to help ensure patients received the care they needed. A meaningful and engaging way to apply math skills as the nine weeks come to a close!

Bringing Characters to Life in ELA
6th grade students in Ms. Bruno, Ms. Liberti, and Ms. Pittman's ELA classes participated in both a "Reader's Theatre" activity and a "Character in the Hot Seat" activity for the passage "Charles" by Shirley Jackson to further their understanding of how characters respond, grow, and change throughout a story.

From comparing quantities and practicing division strategies to solving multi-step word problems and working with decimals, our students are finding meaningful ways to put their math skills into action!

Students in Mrs. Bishop’s and Mrs. Flowers’ classes practiced important everyday life skills through hands-on activities. Students worked on brushing their teeth, washing their hands, and sorting colorful bears while also strengthening fine motor skills.

Popcorn Party!
Congratulations to Mrs. Burns’ and Mrs. McMinn’s 3rd grade classes at LUES! Both classes earned a popcorn party by completing 100 i-Ready lessons with 80% or higher accuracy!
Now they’re setting the bar even higher with a new goal: 100 lessons with 100% accuracy!
