The Power of the Pencil in 8th Grade ELA!
Ms. Whited’s 8th grade ELA students are putting their writing skills to work in the Ticonderoga Power of the Pencil Writing Contest! After reading about the benefits of writing with a pencil, students reflected on its importance and put their thoughts into words through thoughtful, well-written responses.
We are proud of our students’ creativity, effort, and ability to express their ideas. Check out a few of their responses and see the power of the pencil in action!

These students are recognized as keeping their cool, staying out of the drama, and using healthy coping skills to handle middle school stress with maturity while being a calm, steady presence for others.
Also, Congratulations to Mrs. Heather Bynum for being selected as our Staff Anchor Award for being recognized as a teacher who stays totally unbothered by school chaos and keeps her classroom feeling safe and predictable. Science in Action!
Our 8th grade Science students at LMS had a hands-on opportunity to see their new Science curriculum in action during Stile Science Demo Day! A Stile representative worked alongside our students and teachers to demonstrate how the curriculum can bring science concepts to life through engaging, interactive learning.

LES and LMS Art Collaboration
Mrs. Patton's Art 1 classes teamed up with Mrs. Sloan's second graders for the second year in a row. Two of Mrs. Sloan's art classes designed Squishmallows, and Mrs. Patton's 8th graders made them "come to life" by sewing them into Squishmallows.

LMS Art Auction
LMS Art 1 students designed and painted 12 one-of-a-kind chairs inspired by famous artists. Proceeds from the auction will benefit Lafayette Middle School PTO.
