Oxford, MS -  Lafayette County School District (LCSD) maintains its “A” rating with a Top 25 ranking in the state. This is the eighth year in a row as an A-rated district since receiving its first A in 2018.

The district earned 714 points on the Mississippi Department of Education accountability model for the 2024–2025 school year. Students demonstrated continued growth in math, reading, and science proficiency from the previous year. The high school celebrated a significant increase in its graduation rate and achieved a remarkable 12th-place ranking in the state for student enrollment and performance in accelerated classes.

“These results reflect the hard work of our students, teachers, and staff. Earning 714 points on the state accountability model and achieving another A rating shows that our district is moving in the right direction. Ranking 12th in the state for accelerated coursework is a clear sign that we are preparing students not only to graduate, but to excel beyond high school,” said Superintendent Jay Foster.

report cardThe Lafayette Upper Elementary School (LUES) led the way for the district by scoring in the Top 25 in seven categories and fifth (5th) in the state for 3rd-grade math. LUES increased their overall points by 15 from the previous year by increasing their reading and math growth rates.

“Early education is critical to the success of our students, and the growth we’ve seen at the elementary level is an excellent outcome that sets a strong foundation for continued progress,” added Foster.

In its commitment to providing a well-rounded education, LCSD celebrated continued growth in Career and Technical Education (CTE), with 182 students earning industry certifications. Additionally, 77% of Advanced Placement students achieved a score of 3 or higher, earning valuable college credit. These accomplishments reflect a steady six-year trend of improvement in both acceleration and College and Career Readiness scores at the high school.
