Pre-K Team Attends Elevate Conference
This June, our Pre-K teachers attended the Elevate Your Classroom Conference in Nashville, bringing back fresh ideas and renewed enthusiasm for the year ahead!
A highlight of the trip? Meeting early childhood favorite Jack Hartmann and comedian Gerry Brooks, whose humor and insights left everyone inspired!
We’re so proud of our teachers’ dedication to lifelong learning and can’t wait for them to share this energy with our youngest learners.

STUDENT REGISTRATION UPDATE

Honoring Excellence in Education
We are incredibly proud to share that three of our educators from Lafayette Elementary School were recently recognized by the Chicksa District of the Natchez Trace Council of the Boy Scouts of America for their dedication and service.
Mrs. Kelley Hunter and Mr. Brady Cairns were each awarded the Albert K. Fretwell Award, which honors educators who exemplify the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law in the classroom.
Mrs. Misty Wright received the District Award of Merit—the highest honor a Scouting District can bestow—for her exceptional contributions to the success and development of youth in our community.
As Johnny Price, Chicksa District Awards Chairman, shared:
“We are very proud to honor three deserving educators from Lafayette Elementary School.”
Congratulations to Mrs. Hunter, Mr. Cairns, and Mrs. Wright for their commitment to shaping young lives.

LES Faculty Walking Competition
Throughout the month, our LES Health Council hosted a Walking Competition for our faculty and staff. Together, they walked over 4.5 million steps!
Congratulations to our overall winner, Amy Slone, who logged an impressive 382,427 steps! Amy was awarded a YMCA gym membership and a speaker, generously donated by the YMCA.
We’re also excited to celebrate our category winners, each receiving a $25 gift card donated by our PTO:
🏅 Stephanie Neely

🏅 Ginger Brown

That's a Wrap!
We closed out the school year yesterday with smiles, laughter, and lots of memories. Thanks for a great year, LES!

Flashback to a Fantastic Event
Even though the last day of school was today, we couldn't let the year end without highlighting a special moment — the first annual LES QUEST Living Wax Museum!
A few weeks ago, families and friends toured the museum as students brought historical figures to life, sharing facts and stories in character.
Great job to all our QUEST students for making history come alive!

LES Flashback to Monday
Our elementary students wrapped up a fantastic year with a fun-filled Field Day, proudly sponsored by the LES PTO.
Thank you to all the volunteers and PTO members who made this celebration possible — it was the perfect way to end the school year!

Action Art
LES Art students wrap up another year of Artist Studies with Ms. Amy in a fun way... slinging paint like Jackson Pollock! Students across the grades collaborated to create beautiful works of action art!

Graduation is almost here, and we are excited to celebrate the Class of 2025!

LES Parent of the Year - Mrs. Toni Ewing
Mrs. Ewing is a vital member of our PTO, helping the organization raise thousands of dollars to enhance the educational experience of our students and provide occasional treats for students and teachers. She is most recognized for her coordination of the monthly Sunshine Cart. We are grateful to have Mrs. Ewing as an LES parent.
LUES Parent of the Year- Mrs. Heather Humphries
Mrs. Humphries is a familiar and valued part of the LUES community. A former teacher, she now supports our school as a long-term substitute and is always willing to help wherever needed. She’s jumped in on many occasions, including big projects like the 3rd Grade Titanic Project. We appreciate her continued dedication and support for our students and staff.
LMS Parent of the Year- Mrs. Sara Nowell
Mrs. Nowell is always willing to lend a helping hand at LMS. She cares deeply—not only about her own children, but about the success and well-being of all students at LMS. Her positive attitude, willingness to help, and genuine support do not go unnoticed. We are truly grateful to have Mrs. Nowell as a part of our school community!
LHS Parent of the Year- Mrs. Leigh Norris
Mrs. Norris has played an instrumental role in supporting our school community. From coordinating meals and thoughtful gestures for our teachers to organizing the trailer of merchandise sold at football games, her commitment has been invaluable. We deeply appreciate her dedication!

May Madness at LES!
Mrs. Raspo is bringing the energy with "May Madness"—an active open gym time for 2nd-grade students at LES. Every Tuesday and Thursday morning, students have the chance to start their day with movement, games, and fitness fun before the bell rings.
What a great way to promote healthy habits and a strong finish to the school year!

We cordially invite you to the retirement reception honoring the 2025 LCSD retirees.

Happy School Nurse Day!
Thank you for being the heart of student care and wellness. Your work keeps our district anchored to excellence every single day.
