MISSISSIPPI READS ONE BOOK

Mississippi Reads One Book kicked off this week! We are excited that all of our PK-3 students will receive a book to take home and read each night with their families.

Pre-K and K students are reading Mercy Watson to the Rescue.

First, Second, and Third graders are reading Charlotte’s Web.

Our PreK students in Ms. Gatlin’s classroom had a magical time celebrating St. Patrick’s Day! From measuring Lucky Charms to enjoying fun games and creative crafts, the day was full of learning and laughter. They even had a surprise visit from a mischievous leprechaun!

WELCOME TO THE LES FAMILY

On Tuesday, February 17, the Lafayette County School Board voted to hire Lee Gray as the principal of Lafayette Elementary School. Mr. Gray will join the administrative staff effective July 1, 2026.
Gray received a Bachelor of Science from Mississippi State University and a Master of Education in Administration and Educational Leadership from Arkansas State University. He has 15 years of experience as an educator within the Lafayette County, Marshall County, Tate County, and Water Valley school districts.

He joins us after serving for 2 years as Head Principal at Davidson Elementary in Water Valley.

We’re Ready to Welcome Students Back!

After the ice storm break, we’re excited to welcome our students back to school tomorrow and help them settle back into their routines.

Before the break, Ms. Sicks’ 2nd grade class made learning a little s’more fun—using s’more-themed activities to explore measurement and adjectives, then celebrating their hard work with a sweet treat!

We can’t wait to see our students back in classrooms filled with learning and smiles.
