2007-08 Pride Survey
The Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act (SDFSCA) of 2001 supports states and local education agencies in creating safe, disciplined and drug-free learning environments.
The Act specifically requires that indicators be measured, including “the incidence and prevalence, age of onset, perception of social disapproval of drug use and violence by youth in schools and communities.”
Each user of the Pride Survey for grades 6-12 receives a short and easy to read Executive Summary that correlates local findings to each of these specific indicators.
The SDFSCA Act, authorized by the No Child Left Behind Act, also requires that “collected data shall include incident reports by school officials and anonymous student surveys."
As part of the requirements of No Child Left Behind law, the Lafayette County School District continues drug education efforts.
The data assist the district in assessing our success or failure in convincing students of the health and safety value of not using alcohol and drugs and finding non-violent solutions to their problems.
